Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Understand Basic Principles
    • Explain the fundamental concepts and principles of tissue and cell culture, including aseptic techniques, media preparation, and sterilization methods.
  2. Apply Laboratory Techniques
    • Perform essential cell culture techniques such as cell seeding, subculturing (passaging), cryopreservation, and thawing of cells.
    • Maintain and monitor cultured cells for viability and growth.
  3. Analyze Culture Conditions
    • Optimize environmental factors (e.g., temperature, CO₂ levels, pH) and culture medium composition to support specific cell types.
    • Identify and troubleshoot contamination issues and implement corrective actions.
  4. Utilize Specialized Techniques
    • Employ advanced methods, including 3D cell culture, co-culture systems, and stem cell culture, depending on course scope.
    • Execute specific assays for cellular activity, such as viability tests, proliferation assays, and immunostaining.
  5. Interpret Experimental Data
    • Analyze and interpret data derived from cell culture experiments using microscopy, spectrophotometry, or other relevant techniques.
  6. Understand Applications
    • Explain the applications of tissue and cell culture in research, biotechnology, and clinical settings, such as drug development, regenerative medicine, and toxicology testing.
