a) A virus is a piece of bad news wrapped up in a protein
b) Viruses are capable of replicating only inside susceptible and permissive cells
b) Some viruses replicate exclusively in the cytoplasm and others in the nucleus
c) Mosquitoes are capable of transmitting malaria parasites to human but are unable to transmit HIV to human
d) Some people have shown to be resistant to HIV infection
QUESTION TWO (25 Marks)
a) Describe the mechanisms used by viruses to enter the cell for replication (15 marks)
b) Use a well labelled diagram only to illustrate how the different groups of viruses (based on Baltimore classification) synthesize mRNA and protein (10 marks)
